Listen to the first episode of the story called "The flatmates" and then do the following 2 activities:
a) Read the "vote" section. Which of the three possibilities do you go for?
b) There is a a grammar point with some exercises. Do them and write how many right answers you got.
You have one week to do the two activities.

Any anecdotes?
People love anecdotes, these short stories that happen to us or somebody we know that are curious to listen to when we are talking with friends. You can write short texts telling us anything that we find interesting or funny or strange. We'll answer you!
English outside the classroom
This space is for you and for me. We can post messages when we want to inform about activities, films, exhibitions, places, etc in Sant Cugat in which English is the language used, not Catalan or Spanish.
phrasal verbs
Phrasal verbs are going to be important this year. Here I will use some that we see in class and try to use them in more real contexts so that you understand them better.
classwork
Sometimes, I will explain something in class but I will not have the impression that you have understood it well. This is the place where I will tell you more about it.
Readers
Here you can ask any questions about the different readers we do in class. But, please, don't ask me the questions half an hour before the test. I might not answer them...

First about me when I was you...
Just to know a little bit what all this is going to be about... With something about me! Horrible, isn't it?
You know how much we all love music. I too love music, my dear friends. Like you! Now, I'm not listening to it, but that is very very strange.
So, why not start with a song that says something about me? Last year, in 2nd of batxillerat, we spent the last hour listening to students' songs, and they, the students, said that they wanted me to play a song that I listened to when I was 15 or 16. And this is what I played.
The song is a bit ... strange, a bit ... sad. But the lyrics and the music are beautiful. It's a good song that I liked, like many others that I also liked.
I'm sorry to say that after the song, you will see an activity for you to do. Not a very long activity! You know, teachers have this problem: in order for you to learn, we want you to work.
Click here to listen to the song:
I hope you liked it! And now the activity:
a)These words, for me, can describe the song. Can you write a sentence next to each one to say why?
violence strength anger solidarity freedom
b)The story is obviously talking about a war. Which war is he talking about?
c)Is the narrator writing before, during, or after the war? How do you know?
d)Do you know other songs about war, or peace? Tell us about it.

First things first
Hello, students of 1st year of batxillerat. This is mi first blog in my life and my hope is that it helps you learn this language in a way that you find more interesting. Take this new tool as an extra, as a plus to what we do in class. Here you will find things that probably we won't see in the classroom, but also if you look carefully in the blog you will see things that we do inside it too!
Don't panic! It is not about making English more difficult, it's about helping you with your English. The success of this experience will depend as much on me as on you, so, please please please, do collaborate a little bit with your own ideas.
Ok, ok, teacher, but how? Wait and see...
